Recap

Braves 4, Red Sox 1: Jair Jurrjens made a triumphant return to the major leagues, holding Boston to three hits through 7 2/3 innings as Atlanta won the opening game of a weekend series at Fenway Park.

Jason Heyward and Martin Prado each collected three hits and rookie Andrelton Simmons drove in two runs as the Braves won their third consecutive game and snapped Boston’s five-game winning streak.

Jurrjens (1-2), demoted to the minors in late April, allowed one run while walking one and striking out four. He gave up an Adrian Gonzalez single with two outs in the first and didn't allow another hit until Will Middlebrooks led off the eighth with a double off the center-field wall.

Daniel Nava followed two hitters later with a double off the Green Monster, scoring Middlebrooks to bring Boston within 3-1.

Chad Durbin got the final out of the eighth. Craig Kimbrel pitched the ninth for his NL-leading 21st save.

The Braves broke through with a pair of fourth-inning runs. Freddie Freeman singled, and moved to third on Heyward’s one-out double off the Green Monster. Matt Diaz’s groundout to short plated Freeman and gave Atlanta a 1-0 advantage.

Simmons followed with a double to left, scoring Heyward and putting the Braves ahead 2-0. Simmons’ sixth-inning sacrifice fly scored Heyward to make it 3-0.

Boston starter Jon Lester (4-5) went seven innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rain delayed the start by one hour, 28 minutes. … Heyward extended his hitting streak to eight games and is hitting .377 in June. He posted his third multi-hit game in a row and seventh this month. … Freeman drove in an insurance run with a ninth-inning single. ... Boston OF Carl Crawford will begin a minor-league rehab assignment Saturday.
