Recap

Red Sox 15, Marlins 5: David Ortiz belted a grand slam for his third homer in as many games to power host Boston to its fourth consecutive victory.

Mike Aviles clubbed a three-run homer and former Marlin Cody Ross added a three-run double as the Red Sox handed reeling Miami its 12 loss in 14 games.

Felix Doubront (8-3) was the beneficiary of the offensive onslaught, allowing four runs on nine hits in six innings in sweltering conditions at Fenway Park.

Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco (6-6) lost his third straight start, getting battered for nine runs on nine hits in a season-low 3 1/3 innings. He was relieved by Chris Hatcher, who surrendered Ortiz's blast and a solo homer by Jarrod Saltalamacchia two batters later to make it 12-4.

Ortiz's 11th career grand slam, his 18th homer of the season, highlighted a six-run fourth inning to make it 12-4. It gave him four homers and 11 RBIs during a six-game hitting streak.

Will Middlebrooks also had a two-run blast for Boston, which amassed a season-high run total.

Logan Morrison, who had five RBIs in Tuesday's loss, and John Buck swatted solo homers for the Marlins.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia sat out Wednesday's game but said he was available to play. Pedroia left Tuesday's game after aggravating a thumb injury, but he said he's fine and should be back in the lineup Thursday. ... Ortiz cracked the 396th homer of his career, tying Joe Carter for 52nd on the all-time list. His slam was his 10th with Boston, second to Ted Williams in franchise history. ... Marlins 2B Omar Infante had three hits after going 1-for-19 in his previous four games.
