Recap
Orioles 5, White Sox 3: Adam Jones belted a two-run home run and drove in three runs as visiting Baltimore took three of four from Chicago.
Jason Hammel (2-0) tied a career high with 10 strikeouts and allowed two runs in six innings to keep the surprising Orioles atop the AL East Division.
Jones' two-run blast, his fifth, capped a three-run fifth inning to make it 5-2. He also had an RBI double in a two-run first off White Sox starter Gavin Floyd to give him hits in 12 of 13 games.
Jim Johnson loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth inning before striking out Alex Rios for his major league-leading sixth save.
Floyd (1-1) permitted five runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking three as Chicago lost for the fourth time in five games.
White Sox first baseman Adam Dunn had an RBI double and scored on a run-scoring single by Alex Rios in the third inning to tie the score at 2-2.
Paul Konerko had a pair of singles, his sixth multi-hit game of the season, but it wasn't enough to prevent Chicago from losing for the 10th time in 15 home meetings against Baltimore.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Hammel had reached double figures in strikeouts just once in 117 previous career starts, fanning 10 against Cincinnati on July 16, 2010. ... Konerko has hit safely in 11 of 12 games to boost his average to .370. ... Jones' homer was the Orioles' 21st of the season, putting them one behind of Texas for the major league lead. It also tied Jones for the AL high.
