Recap
R.A. Dickey threw seven scoreless innings to win for the first time in more than a month, and the New York Mets edged the Florida Marlins 2-1 in the first game of a doubleheader and opener of a five-game series Monday at Citi Field.
It was the Mets' first victory in five home games against the Marlins this season.
Dickey (6-11) was winless in his previous five outings despite turning in quality starts in each. In winning for the first time since July 25, he struck out six and allowed seven hits and a walk.
The Mets took the lead on Justin Turner's RBI single in the second, and padded the margin on Josh Thole's RBI fielder's choice in the third against Marlins starter Anibal Sanchez (7-7).
Dickey and two relievers took care of the rest. Jason Isringhausen struck out the side in a perfect eighth, and Bobby Parnell surrendered a homer to Gaby Sanchez in the ninth before earning his second save.
Jason Bay went 0-for-3 in his return to New York's lineup after sitting out since Wednesday with a shoulder injury.
