Recap
Trevor Cahill pitched seven scoreless innings as the Oakland Athletics coasted to a 7-0 victory over the host Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.
Cahill (12-14) yielded back-to-back singles to open the game but gave up just two more hits the rest of the way, retiring 13 straight and 17 of 18 between the first and sixth innings.
Craig Breslow and Jerry Blevins set the last six Mariners down in order to finish off the shutout.
After taking the lead on a Josh Willingham three-run homer in the first inning, Oakland continued to pile on against Blake Beavan (5-6). Scott Sizemore singled home one run in the third inning before capping the scoring with a two-run homer in the fifth.
Beavan labored through five innings in defeat, walking two and striking out four while giving up seven runs on eight hits.
