Recap

Mark Trumbo blasted a tape-measure home run and Ervin Santana outdueled Felix Hernandez as the host Los Angeles Angels edged the Seattle Mariners 2-1 on Sunday.

Santana, who threw a no-hitter and a complete game in his last two starts, improved to 8-8 after giving up seven hits with one walk and seven strikeouts over 8 1/3 innings.

After Mike Carp’s one-out homer in the top of the ninth, Jordan Walden retired the next two batters for his 25th save. The Angels have won 12 of their last 14 series.

Hernandez (10-10) allowed just one hit through the first six innings - a third-inning solo home run by Trumbo that traveled an estimated 471 feet, the longest at Angel Stadium this season.

The Angels added an insurance run in the seventh on Vernon Wells’ run-scoring single off Hernandez, whose final line included 12 strikeouts, no walks and four hits.
