Recap

Wade LeBlanc pitched six strong innings and San Diego rode a couple of solo homers to a 3-1 home win over National League West leader Arizona on Saturday night.

The Diamondbacks still hold a five-game edge over San Francisco, which beat Colorado, in the division race.

LeBlanc (4-5) gave up just three more hits after surrendering a first-inning home run to Aaron Hill. He struck out four and walked three, not allowing another Arizona baserunner past second after the first inning.

The Diamondbacks put the tying runs on base with two out in the ninth, but Heath Bell struck out Lyle Overbay to end it and notch his 39th save.

The Padres, who came in with the fewest home runs (83) of any team in the major leagues, took a 2-1 lead when Orlando Hudson took a 3-2 pitch from Josh Collmenter (9-10) over the right-field wall with two out in the fourth. Jeremy Hermida doubled the San Diego advantage when he led off the seventh with another solo shot.

Collmenter allowed eight hits over seven innings, striking out two without a walk.
