Ryan Vogelsong pitched seven scoreless innings and ignited a two-out rally in the third as the San Francisco Giants recorded a 3-1 triumph over the visiting Colorado Rockies on Monday.
Vogelsong (13-7) allowed four hits and struck out four en route to his third straight win. The 34-year-old went 4-0 with a 0.96 ERA against Colorado this season.
With two outs in the third, Vogelsong singled off Jhoulys Chacin (11-14), who then walked Andres Torres before Mike Fontenot delivered a triple for a 2-0 lead.
Mark Ellis halved the deficit in the eighth with an RBI single off Sergio Romo, but Brett Pill restored San Francisco's two-run advantage in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly.
Javier Lopez registered the first out in the ninth and Santiago Casilla recorded the final two for his sixth save in seven chances.
Chacin suffered his fourth consecutive loss as he yielded two runs and eight hits over seven innings for Colorado, which has lost 10 of 12.
