Recap

Homer Bailey pitched 7 2/3 strong innings and Ryan Hanigan snapped a tie with a two-run single to lead the Cincinnati Reds to a 4-1 triumph over the host Colorado Rockies on Friday.

Paul Janish added an RBI single for the Reds, who snapped a 10-game losing streak at Coors Field.

Bailey (8-7) entered Friday winless in four starts against the Rockies, including a disastrous outing last month in which he lasted only three innings. But the 25-year-old righthander was sharp this time, striking out six and keeping the ball on the ground in the thin Denver air.

Cincinnati broke through against Jhoulys Chacin (11-11) in the sixth with four runs. After an error allowed the tying run to score, Hanigan greeted reliever Josh Roenicke by driving a 2-1 pitch back up the middle to plate the go-ahead runs.

Aroldis Chapman got the final out of the eighth and Francisco Cordero worked a perfect ninth for his 32nd save.

Chris Nelson hit a solo homer for Colorado in the third.
