Recap
Jeremy Hermida and Will Venable drove in three runs apiece as the San Diego Padres snapped a nine-game losing skid with a 7-2 triumph over the visiting Colorado Rockies on Sunday.
Hermida drove in the first three runs of the game for the Padres, singling home a run in the first inning and knocking in two more with a base hit in the third.
San Diego put the game away with four unearned runs in the eighth inning - three of those coming on a bases-loaded triple by Venable.
Mat Latos (7-13) worked seven innings for the win, striking out eight while yielding five hits and a walk. Chad Qualls and Joe Thatcher each contributed an inning of scoreless relief.
Aaron Cook (3-9) took the loss after allowing three runs on four hits in six innings. He walked four batters and struck out two. Seth Smith had an RBI single in the fourth inning to help the Rockies cut the San Diego lead to 3-2.
