Recap

Jhoulys Chacin pitched eight strong innings and the Colorado Rockies knocked out 17 hits before fending off the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-5, on Friday for their third straight win.

After going nine straight games without scoring more than three runs, the Rockies have scored 20 in the past three contests. Colorado sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five runs on seven hits in the fifth inning.

Chacin (7-4) tied a season-high with nine strikeouts and gave up three hits with three walks. The Dodgers scored five runs in the ninth before Huston Street struck out Trent Oeltjen for his 19th save of the season.

Chad Billingsley (5-5) gave up six runs on 13 hits in 4 2/3 innings. Billingsley dropped to 1-5 with a 7.88 ERA in seven career appearances – six starts - at Coors Field.

Matt Kemp extended his major league-leading streak of consecutive games played to 269 with a pinch-hit home run in the ninth inning. After being scratched from the starting lineup with a tight left hamstring, Kemp blasted his league-leading 19th home run deep over the left-field fence.
