Recap
Rafael Furcal’s walk-off double to left-center field scored Trent Oeltjen in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 7-6 victory over the Washington Nationals on Saturday night.
Furcal’s walk-off hit was his first since 2000 and made a winner out of Javy Guerra (2-0), who pitched a scoreless ninth.
After Rod Barajas broke an 0-for-23 skid with a leadoff single off Ryan Mattheus (2-2), Oeltjen reached base on a fielder’s choice before Jamey Carroll singled to bring up Furcal.
Neither starting pitcher lasted long as the Nationals’ Tom Gorzelanny gave up five runs over three innings. Reliever Ross Detwiler followed with 2 2/3 scoreless innings.
The Dodgers’ Ted Lilly allowed six runs over five innings, but helped his own cause with a double and three RBIs.
Jayson Werth and Rick Ankiel drove in two runs apiece for the Nationals, who fell two games under .500.
