Michael Morse blasted a two-run home run and Jason Marquis collected his seventh win of the season to lead the visiting Washington Nationals to a 2-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Friday.
Marquis (7-2) had a no-hitter through four innings and finished with one run allowed on five hits over six frames. Marquis has given up three earned runs over his last 17 2/3 innings.
Drew Storen worked around two base runners in the ninth inning for his 13th save of the season.
Morse, who has nine home runs and 27 RBIs in his last 31 games, gave the Nationals a lead in the second with his 10th home run.
After winning his last three starts, Padres’ starter Mat Latos (4-7) gave up two runs on four hits while striking out six over six innings.
San Diego scored its lone run on Marquis' bases-loaded walk to Ryan Ludwick in the bottom of the sixth.
