Recap

Juan Francisco collected four hits - including an RBI single with two outs in the 10th inning - as the Cincinnati Reds won their first three-game series at St. Louis since June 2006 with a 3-2 triumph over the Cardinals on Sunday.

St. Louis, which begins a three-game series at Milwaukee on Monday, fell 9 1/2 games behind the first-place Brewers in the National League Central.

Yonder Alonso singled against Fernando Salas (5-6) with two outs and Drew Stubbs walked before Francisco lined a single to center field that plated pinch-runner Chris Valaika with the go-ahead run.

Bill Bray (5-2) retired the only batter he faced with the potential winning run on third in the ninth and Francisco Cordero worked a perfect 10th for his 30th save in 35 opportunities.

Former Cardinal Edgar Renteria gave Cincinnati a 2-0 lead in the first inning with his fifth home run of the season. But Jon Jay belted a solo shot in the bottom half and Daniel Descalso had an RBI triple in the fourth to forge a tie.

Reds starter Bronson Arroyo served up his major league-leading 37th homer of the year but struck out five over eight solid innings.
