Recap

Carlos Gonzalez homered and drove in three runs while Kevin Millwood pitched six solid innings as the Colorado Rockies earned a split of their two-game series with a 6-2 victory over the host Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.

Milwaukee saw its lead over St. Louis in the National League Central shrink to 5 1/2 games. The magic number for the Brewers, who have 12 contests to play, remained at eight.

Gonzalez belted a two-run shot, his 26th of the season, in the third inning and lifted a sacrifice fly in the fifth that gave Colorado a 5-1 lead. The homer was just his second in 15 games following a spurt of four in five contests.

Millwood (3-2) allowed two runs and four hits in his first outing against Milwaukee since Aug. 19, 2003. The veteran righthander struck out two and walked two, giving him six free passes in seven starts this season.

Willin Rosario also homered and Mark Ellis collected four hits and an RBI for the Rockies, who have won three of four.

Shaun Marcum (12-7) yielded six runs - five earned - over five innings en route to his fourth loss in five starts.

Nyjer Morgan had two hits and drove in a run for Milwaukee, which has lost six of eight.
