Recap
Zack Greinke pitched seven strong innings for his fifth straight victory as the Milwaukee Brewers ran their winning streak to six with a 3-1 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.
Greinke improved to 9-0 at home to set a record for fastest start by a first-year Brewers pitcher.
The Brewers, who have won 19 of 21 and maintained their seven-game lead in the National League Central, broke a scoreless tie in the sixth when Jerry Hairston Jr. drove in a pair of runs with a base hit to center field against Nate Eovaldi (1-1).
Greinke (12-4) allowed five hits, three walks and struck out eight. He yielded a home run to Tony Gwynn Jr. in the seventh, but Milwaukee was able to stretch the lead back to two in the bottom half when Jonathan Lucroy scored on a wild pitch.
LaTroy Hawkins and John Axford each pitched a scoreless inning of relief as Axford working around a one-out walk in the ninth to pick up his 36th save.
Eovaldi gave up two runs on five hits in six innings for the Dodgers.
