Recap
Zack Greinke worked 7 2/3 innings en route to a record-tying victory as the Milwaukee Brewers topped the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates 7-2 on Friday.
Greinke (11-4) improved to 8-0 at home in his first year with the Brewers, matching a team standard for the best start to a career. He did not allow a run until the Pirates got back-to-back RBI doubles from Michael McKenry and Andrew McCutchen in the eighth inning.
Greinke struck out nine.
Casey McGehee's two-run triple in the third gave Milwaukee a 3-0 lead.
The Brewers, who maintained their four-game lead over St. Louis in the National League Central, added to their cushion with three runs in the eighth, including back-to-back solo homers from Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder against Joe Beimel.
Pittsburgh's Paul Maholm (6-13) surrendered four runs on eight hits in five innings.
