Recap

Jay Bruce's leadoff homer ignited a five-run 10th inning as the Cincinnati Reds pulled away for an 8-4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night.

Bruce greeted Brewers reliever Marco Estrada (2-6) by driving a 1-1 pitch over the right-field wall for his third hit of the night and 21st home run of the season. Ramon Hernandez, Miguel Cairo, Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips each singled in a run, with the last three runs coming after an error by Milwaukee third baseman Craig Counsell.

Bill Bray (2-1) got the win after working out of a jam in the ninth. Reds closer Francisco Cordero allowed an RBI single to Yuniesky Betancourt in the 10th before retiring the final three hitters to end it.

Hernandez gave Cincinnati a 3-2 lead with a two-run homer in the second before Milwaukee starting pitcher Shaun Marcum tied it in the bottom half with a sacrifice that plated Betancourt.

Reds starter Johnny Cueto gave up three runs, six hits and four walks in 6 1/3 innings. Marcum worked six innings, and allowed three runs, six hits and three walks.
