Recap

Ryan Braun homered and raised his National League-leading batting average two points, and the Milwaukee Brewers set a franchise record for home wins with a 9-5 victory over the Florida Marlins on Sunday at Miller Park.

The Brewers improved their major league-best home record to 55-23, surpassing the 1978 team for the most home triumphs in franchise history.

Milwaukee, which has already clinched the National League Central title, stayed one game ahead of Arizona for the NL's second-best record. The Diamondbacks defeated San Francisco later Sunday.

Braun hit his 33rd home run in the fourth, an opposite-field shot against Marlins reliever Brian Sanches. He went 2-for-3 to raise his average to .333, two points better than Jose Reyes, who went 2-for-4 in the New York Mets' home loss against Philadelphia.

The Brewers have never had a batting champion.

Emilio Bonifacio led off the game with a home run for the Marlins, giving him homers in consecutive games for the first time in his career. Bonifacio had just one career homer in four major league seasons before hitting five this season.

The Brewers have won eight straight against the Marlins, including all seven meetings this season. Chris Narveson (11-8) picked up the victory, while Ricky Nolasco (10-12) took the loss.
