Recap
Ryan Ludwick and Orlando Hudson hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the first inning to provide all the support Tim Stauffer needed as the San Diego Padres defeated the host Florida Marlins 4-0 on Tuesday night.
Stauffer (6-6) allowed four hits in six innings to post his eighth consecutive quality start and Heath Bell - the fourth reliever - recorded the final out for his 27th save and completed the six-hitter.
San Diego won for the second time in 10 games; Florida lost for the second time in 11.
Marlins starter Anibal Sanchez (6-3) allowed two runs over six innings and is winless since June 10 despite allowing two runs or fewer in five of his seven starts since.
Florida's Emilio Bonifacio extended his career-best hitting streak to 18 games with a bunt single in the fifth.
Padres third baseman Chase Headley sat out his third consecutive game with a strained right calf.
