Recap

Dan Uggla extended his hitting streak to 25 games and hit a two-run homer as Atlanta beat Washington 6-4 Wednesday at Nationals Park to end a three-game losing streak and avoid being swept in a three-game series for the first time this season.

Uggla went 2-for-4 and hit his 23rd homer, a two-run shot against Washington starter Chien-Ming Wang (0-2) to spark a four-run fifth inning. Freddie Freeman went 2-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to 18 games. Uggla and Freeman have the longest active hitting streaks in the major leagues.

Brandon Beachy (5-2) gave up four runs in five innings in winning his second straight game. He was removed after allowing a two-run homer to Jayson Werth, his 13th.

The Braves bullpen worked the final four innings around a 22-minute rain delay, allowed no runs and struck out eight. Craig Kimbrel, who had two strikeouts, pitched the ninth inning and earned his 32nd save.

Wang, making his second start since coming off the DL, allowed six runs in five innings, but four of the runs were unearned. Washington's Ryan Zimmerman went 2-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
