Tim Stauffer had a career-high nine strikeouts and the San Diego Padres provided him with some rare run support in an 11-2 victory over the visiting Atlanta Braves on Friday.
 
Stauffer (3-5) allowed two runs on four hits in seven innings. He entered with the lowest run support average in the majors at 2.15 runs per outing. The Padres had scored seven runs in Stauffer's last seven starts.
 
Pinch-hitter Jesus Guzman hit his first career home run and four players drove in two runs apiece for the  Padres, who won their third straight and snapped the Braves' four-game winning streak.
 
After Freddie Freeman’s two-run blast cut the Padres’ lead to 5-2 in the seventh, San Diego scored six runs and sent 11 batters to the plate in the bottom half.
