Recap
Brennan Boesch belted a two-run homer and Justin Verlander won his fifth straight game as the Detroit Tigers cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Thursday at Comerica Park.
Boesch’s eighth homer of the season completed a four-run uprising that included an RBI triple by Alex Avila and an RBI single by Don Kelly.
Boesch has collected three homers with seven RBIs over the last four games.
Verlander (7-3) has not lost since April 27. He struck out a season-high 10, allowed only one run and five hits while also picking off a runner.
Jose Valverde pitched a scoreless ninth inning and earned his 16th save of the season.
The tough-luck loser was Doug Fister (3-7), who allowed all four runs in eight innings.
