Recap
Adrian Beltre hit a two-run homer and Michael Young added a three-run double in the fifth inning, lifting the Texas Rangers to a 7-4 win over the visiting Cleveland Indians on Thursday night.
Texas leads Los Angeles by 3 1/2 games for the lead in the American League West.
The Rangers took nine of 10 from the Indians and outscored Cleveland 68-32 in the season series. The Rangers outscored the Indians 26-9 in their three-game home sweep.
Alexi Ogando (13-8), who worked out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the second, pitched six shutout innings. He retired 12 straight batters at one point.
Josh Hamilton added a solo homer in the seventh, his 22nd.
Fausto Carmona (6-15) allowed six runs in six innings for the Indians, who fell three games under .500 for the first time this season. Shin-Soo Choo, activated from the disabled list prior to the game, was removed after re-injuring his oblique muscle in his first at-bat and will miss the rest of the season, manager Manny Acta said after the game.
The Rangers led 1-0 before putting the game away in the fifth. Young's double gave him 101 RBIs, while Beltre's 25th homer extended his hitting streak to 19 games.
Elvis Andrus singled in the third and has hit in all 23 career games against the Indians. He's batting .386 (34-for-88) lifetime versus Cleveland.
