Recap
Kyle Seager went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and Wily Mo Pena homered and drove in four runs as the Seattle Mariners rolled to a 9-2 road victory over the struggling Cleveland Indians on Wednesday afternoon.
Brendan Ryan added two hits and two RBIs for Seattle, which registered 44 hits over the final three games of the four-game series.
Seager hit the first of his three doubles in the fourth inning and scored on Pena's seventh blast of the season and second as a Mariner for a 2-1 lead. After the Indians forged a tie in the bottom half, the duo teamed up to drive in three of Seattle's four runs in the fifth with back-to-back doubles.
Ryan capped a three-run seventh with a two-run triple. That prompted Seattle manager Eric Wedge to lift Felix Hernandez (12-11), who allowed two runs over six innings in his 200th career start while fanning 10 for his seventh double-digit strikeout performance of the year.
Cleveland's Josh Tomlin (12-7) failed to last five innings for the first time in his career, ending his streak at 37 straight starts. Tomlin, who yielded six runs and 11 hits in 4 2/3 frames, is tied with former Indian John Farrell for the longest such streak since 1919.
Shelley Duncan had three hits and an RBI for the Indians, who have lost five of six and remained six games behind Detroit in the American League Central.
