Recap

Travis Hafner hit a walk-off, two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning Friday and the Cleveland Indians ended a two-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over the visiting Seattle Mariners.

Shin-Soo Choo and Michael Brantley also homered for Cleveland, which improved to an American League-best 15-4 at home and won for the first time in three games without Grady Sizemore (knee).

Justin Smoak had a two-run homer and Carlos Peguero a solo blast for Seattle, which suffered its sixth straight loss thanks to another meltdown from struggling closer Brandon League.

Cleveland trailed 4-2 before rallying against League (0-4), who has lost each of his last four appearances.

Brantley and Asdrubal Cabrera each doubled to open the ninth, and two batters later Hafner ended it by belting an 0-1 sinker to center field.

Hafner’s blast, his fifth of the season, made a winner out of Tony Sipp (1-1) and spoiled Eric Wedge’s return to Cleveland. Wedge spent seven seasons as the manager of the Indians, leading Cleveland to the 2007 ALCS before being fired at the end of the 2009 season.

Seattle carried a 4-2 lead into the ninth behind eight strong innings from Doug Fister.
