Recap
Colby Rasmus and Aaron Hill had four RBIs apiece as the Toronto Blue Jays blitzed the host Seattle Mariners 13-7 on Tuesday.
Hill and Jose Bautista each homered as Toronto hammered out 15 hits and snapped Seattle’s three-game winning streak.
Bautista’s 35th homer of the season was a tape-measure two-run shot off the lower scoreboard in left-center field that gave Toronto a 12-7 lead in the sixth. He reached base five times on two hits and three walks.
Bautista scored the go-ahead run on a bases-loaded wild pitch from Tom Wilhelmsen in the fifth. Rasmus and Hill added sacrifice flies, and J.P. Arencibia singled to make it 10-6.
The Blue Jays scored six runs in the first against Jason Vargas (7-11). Rasmus doubled in three runs, Brett Lawrie singled home Rasmus and Hill hit a two-run homer.
Seattle rallied back to tie the score. Casper Wells hit a two-run homer and Miguel Olivo hit a solo shot in the second. In the third, Trayvon Robinson singled in two runs and Kyle Seager singled in the tying run.
Luis Perez (2-2) pitched four innings of one-run relief for the Blue Jays.
Seattle’s Mike Carp had two hits to extend his hitting streak to 16 games.
Vargas gave up eight runs and seven hits in four-plus innings, and lost for the sixth time in seven decisions.
