Recap
Adam Lind's third career grand slam keyed a five-run fifth inning as the Toronto Blue Jays trounced Jered Weaver and the visiting Los Angeles Angels 11-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Lind jacked the first pitch from Weaver (14-6) over the right-field wall for his 100th career homer. His blast made it 7-1, and Mark Teahen ended Weaver's day two batters later with his first home run in a Blue Jays uniform.
Weaver was rocked for eight runs in 4 2/3 innings, seeing his ERA rise from a league-best 1.78 all the way to 2.13.
He had gone at least six innings in all 24 starts this season, and had thrown 15 straight quality outings before imploding against a Jays lineup without home run leader Jose Bautista, second baseman Aaron Hill and center fielder Colby Rasmus.
Toronto's surprising assault made things easy for winner Ricky Romero (11-9), who held the Angels to a run on two hits over seven sensational innings. Romero has now won four straight starts, allowing just four runs on 11 hits over 31 1/3 innings in that span.
Edwin Encarnacion added a first-inning two-run homer while Yunel Escobar had two hits and scored three times for Toronto.
Alberto Callaspo's fifth-inning solo shot provided the lone bright spot for Los Angeles.
