Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion and Travis Snider all delivered run-scoring doubles in the sixth inning, and Brett Cecil tossed his first career shutout as the Toronto Blue Jays notched a 3-0 victory over host Texas Rangers on a scorching Sunday night.

Cecil (3-4) allowed four hits, two walks and struck out seven as Toronto salvaged the final game of the series after losing the first two contests.

The temperature was 105 when Rangers starter Alexi Ogando fired the first pitch just after 7 p.m. CT. That matched the record for hottest temperature at Rangers Ballpark, set July 8 against Oakland.

Yunel Escobar led off the sixth with his third single and scored on Bautista’s one-out double. Encarnacion drove in Bautista with a two-out double to center and scored on Snider’s double to right.

Ogando (10-4) allowed three runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings. Ogando, who had won three consecutive starts, struck out six and walked two.

Craig Gentry had two of Texas’ hits against Cecil, who owned a 19.29 ERA in two previous career starts against the Rangers.

The temperature was still 98 in the ninth inning.
