Recap
Brett Cecil won for the first time since April 15 and Eric Thames hit a two-run homer, leading the Toronto Blue Jays to a 7-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
Thames' homer highlighted a five-run third inning off Indians’ starter
Carlos Carrasco (8-6). The righthander gave up a five-run inning for the
second straight start, both losses.
The Blue Jays took the last three games of the series after failing to hold a four-run lead in the ninth inning Thursday and losing 5-4 on Travis Hafner's walkoff grand slam.
The Indians loaded the bases with one out in the first, but Cecil (2-4) retired Grady Sizemore on a popup and Austin Kearns on a groundout. The lefthander didn't allow a run until the sixth, his last inning of work. Cecil was making his third start since returning from Triple-A Las Vegas on June 30.
Jose Bautista, whose leadoff homer in the 10th inning gave Toronto a win Saturday, added a two-run double in the sixth.
