Recap

Jose Bautista ripped his 23rd home run of the season in the ninth inning as the Toronto Blue Jays halted a four-game losing skid with a 5-4 win over the host St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.

Moments after the teams went through a 13-minute delay following a light failure at Busch Stadium, Bautista belted an 0-1 pitch from Fernando Salas (4-2) over the right-field wall to break a 4-4 deadlock. The slugger finished with a pair of hits and three runs scored for the Blue Jays, who had scored just three runs in their previous four contests.

Jason Frasor (2-1) pitched a scoreless eighth inning to secure the victory while Frank Francisco recorded the final three outs for his eighth save of the campaign.

Matt Holliday and Colby Rasmus homered for the Cardinals, who fell to 1-3 since superstar first baseman Albert Pujols suffered an arm injury that landed him on the disabled list.

Toronto starter Brandon Morrow allowed four runs - three earned - on five hits while striking out nine and walking just one. He settled for a no-decision and has just one victory since May 15.

St. Louis counterpart Jake Westbrook was charged with four runs on 10 hits through 4 1/3 frames. He walked one and struck out three.
