Recap
Andruw Jones homered twice and drove in four runs as the New York Yankees sent Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes into the record books Wednesday with a 7-3 win in matinee action at Yankee Stadium.
With the loss, Reyes (0-4) joins Oakland Athletics righthander Matt Keough as the only players in major-league history to go 28 consecutive starts without a victory. Keough established the mark in 1979.
Reyes was toast after just three innings Wednesday, surrendering five runs on five hits with a pair of walks. He hasn't won since June 13, 2008, with the Atlanta Braves and has gone 0-13 with a 6.64 ERA over the duration of the winless streak.
Two-run homers from Jones and Mark Teixeira knocked Reyes out of the game. Jones added a two-run shot in the sixth off rookie reliever Luis Perez for his first multi-homer game since May 1, 2010.
That was more than enough support for Freddy Garcia (3-4), who allowed three runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings. He struck out four and didn't walk a batter. Mariano Rivera worked the ninth inning, becoming the first player in major-league history to appear in 1,000 games with the same team.
The Yankees took two of three from the Blue Jays and improved to 5-3 against Toronto so far this season.
