Recap

Edwin Jackson pitched six strong innings and the Chicago White Sox took advantage of some suspect defense by the host Cleveland Indians to grab a 4-2 victory on Sunday.

Paul Konerko and Mark Teahen each drove in a run and Juan Pierre had two hits for the White Sox, who moved within two games of .500 at 49-51.

Right after the Indians had come back to knot it at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth, the defense let them down in the next frame. Adam Dunn came up with two on and two out and lifted a fly ball to center field that Ezequiel Carrera could not make the play on, allowing two runs to score on the error.

Jackson (7-7) was charged with two runs on five hits to improve to 9-1 against Cleveland in his career.

Jesse Crain and Chris Sale bridged the gap to Sergio Santos, who recorded the final two outs for his 20th save.

Justin Masterson (8-7) was the tough-luck loser, allowing four runs - one earned - on four hits in seven innings.
