Recap

Jeremy Guthrie won back-to-back starts for the first time this season and the Baltimore Orioles hit three home runs to again stall Tampa Bay's playoff drive with a 6-2 victory over the visiting Rays on Wednesday.

Chris Davis belted a three-run homer, Matt Wieters hit a two-run shot – his third in as many games – and Nolan Reimold added a solo blast as the Orioles kept the Rays four games behind American League wild card leader Boston.

Guthrie (8-17) matched a career-high 10 strikeouts and avenged an 8-1 loss to the Rays on Sept. 4 by allowing three hits in seven innings for the second straight start.

The Rays will continue their 11-game road trip when they open a four-game series against the Red Sox on Thursday.

Davis' fifth homer of the year, and first since Aug. 2, came in the fourth after Matt Joyce's two-run double had given Tampa Bay a 2-1 in the top half.

Wieters hit his ninth homer in 20 games in the eighth to give him 20 for the season.

Wade Davis (10-9) allowed four runs in 6 1/3 innings. He has surrendered six homers in his last six starts.
