Recap

J.J. Hardy's two-run single capped a three-run uprising in the seventh inning as the Baltimore Orioles overcame a dominant outing by David Price to post a 3-2 victory over the host Tampa Bay Rays on Friday.

After mustering only one hit over the first six innings, Baltimore loaded the bases in the seventh with a single by Vladimir Guerrero and a pair of walks. A sacrifice fly by Nolan Reimold plated Guerrero and Hardy's single to left scored Mark Reynolds and Robert Andino to give the Orioles a 3-2 lead.

Price (12-12), who struck out a franchise-record 14 batters in his previous start, fanned 11 on Friday. He yielded three runs and four hits.

Rookie Zach Britton (9-9) collected his third straight victory after allowing two runs on four hits in six innings.

Jim Johnson bridged the gap to Kevin Gregg, who got rookie Brandon Guyer to ground out with the bases loaded in the ninth to secure his 20th save of the season.

The victory - for the time being - prevented Baltimore (55-81) from clinching its 14th straight losing season.

Evan Longoria ripped a two-run double in the first for Tampa Bay, which has dropped four of its last five and is nine games behind Boston in the American League wild card standings.
