Endy Chavez belted his third home run and knocked in four runs as the Texas Rangers cruised to a 13-4 victory over the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.
Chavez, who came into the game with eight RBIs, capped a four-run rally in the second inning with a two-run home run to right field that gave the Rangers a 4-2 lead.
After Adrian Beltre’s two-run homer, Chavez delivered a two-run double to make it 8-2 in the third.
Mark Reynolds had a pair of home runs, including a two-run blast in the first to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead. Reynolds has homered in three consecutive games and has six homers and 11 RBIs in the last five.
David Murphy added three hits and two RBIs and Michael Young had a single, double, triple and an RBI for the Rangers, who had seven doubles.
Texas starter Colby Lewis (8-7) allowed five hits and three runs over seven innings to win his third straight decision and hand the Orioles their sixth loss in last seven games.
Orioles starter Chris Jakubauskas (2-2) was pounded for seven hits and six runs in two-plus innings to lose his second straight start.
