Jose Tabata hit a tiebreaking home run in the sixth inning and Lastings Milledge also homered as the Pittsburgh Pirates snapped a five-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the New York Mets on Sunday.
Tabata's third homer off Johan Santana gave the Pirates a 2-1 lead. Milledge had tied the score with his fourth home run against Santana (10-8) in the fifth.
Santana threw eight innings of four-hit ball with nine strikeouts and one walk, but the homers cost him.
Zach Duke (6-12) earned the win by going seven innings, allowing one run on five hits. He had five strikeouts and two walks. Duke had lost three consecutive starts.
Evan Meek pitched a scoreless eighth and Joel Hanrahan worked around a hit in the ninth for his second save.
New York scored in the first when Carlos Beltran hit a sacrifice fly that brought home Jose Reyes, who reached on a bunt single.
