Recap
Alexi Casilla's two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Minnesota Twins to a 5-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.
The Twins took advantage of some wildness from Toronto closer Kevin Gregg (2-6) to earn just their second victory in the last nine games.
Delmon Young belted a leadoff double and advanced on consecutive two-out walks to Jason Kubel and Jose Morales. Casilla then came to the plate and lined a single to center, bringing home Young and Kubel for the game-winning runs.
Casilla finished with four RBIs on the afternoon. Matt Capps (2-0) earned the win with a scoreless ninth inning.
Edwin Encarnacion continued his red-hot hitting with a two-run homer for Toronto, his fourth in the last three days and 20th of the season. That gives the Blue Jays seven 20-homer hitters on the
season. equaling the American League record achieved by four other
teams – most recently the 2009 New York Yankees.
Toronto starter Shawn Marcum wrapped up his season in impressive fashion,
limiting Minnesota to three runs on five hits over seven innings. He
struck out four and didn't walk a batter.
Twins counterpart Brian Duensing was charged with four
runs on seven hits over five innings. He walked four and struck out
three.
