Recap
Yovani Gallardo retired the first 16 hitters he faced and pitched a five-hitter for his second career shutout, leading the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-0 win over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday.
The win gave the Brewers a sweep of the three-game series against the American League Central leaders.
Gallardo (7-3) didn't allow a baserunner until Drew Butera singled with one out in the sixth. He struck out 12, tying a career high, and didn't walk a batter on 122 pitches.
Gallardo, who won for the first time since June 2, also supplied some offense with two hits while scoring a pair of runs.
Rickie Weeks and Prince Fielder hit two-run homers in the third off Nick Blackburn and Corey Hart added an RBI single in the fourth.
Blackburn (6-5) allowed five runs and six hits in 3 2/3 innings. The right-hander hasn't won since May 27 and has failed to pitch four innings in four of his last five starts.
