Recap
Kila Ka'aihue homered twice and drove in four runs while Sean O'Sullivan allowed one run in six innings, leading the Kansas City Royals to a 10-1 win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.
The Twins, who are playing without several injured regulars, lost their fifth consecutive game, a season-high.
Ka'aihue hit a three-run homer in the first and a solo shot in the third off Nick Blackburn (10-11). He also tripled in the seventh and scored on Josh Fields' two-run homer.
O'Sullivan (4-6) gave up five hits and walked six, but Minnesota's only run against him came in the fifth on Michael Cuddyer's RBI single.
Catcher Joe Mauer (knee), designated hitter Jim Thome (back) and shortstop J.J. Hardy (knee) were out of Minnesota's lineup due to recent injuries. First baseman Justin Morneau (concussion) hasn't played since July 7.
The Royals jumped early on Blackburn, who allowed eight runs in 4 1/3 innings. Jarrod Drew a leadoff walk and Mike Aviles singled. After a double steal, Ka'aihue homered to right with one out.
Dyson's run-scoring fielder's choice and Aviles' RBI double added two runs in the second before Ka'aihue homered again in the third. The Royals scored two in the fifth on Blackburn's balk and Yuniesky Betancourt's groundout.
