Blue Bombers 24, Alouettes 16: Nic Grigsby's 26-yard touchdown run with 2:08 remaining in the fourth quarter put host Winnipeg ahead as it handed Montreal its six consecutive loss.
Grigsby gained 73 yards on 10 carries while Drew Willy completed 14-of-23 passes for 200 yards for the Blue Bombers (6-3), who snapped their two-game losing streak. Don Unamba recovered a punt blocked by Derek Jones to score Winnipeg’s other touchdown and Maurice Leggett made three interceptions, bringing his season total to five.
Jonathan Crompton took over under centre for Alex Brink and was 18-of-29 for 266 yards and three interceptions for the Alouettes (1-7), who managed to score their second offensive touchdown in five games. Tanner Marsh recorded it with a 1-yard run and Tyrell Sutton caught three passes for 90 yards.
Lirim Hajrullahu put the Blue Bombers ahead 14-13 with a pair of field goals early in the fourth quarter, but a 21-yard kick by Sean Whyte restored Montreal's advantage. Grigsby scored to cap a 74-yard drive and regain the lead for Winnipeg, and Leggett’s third interception set up the game-clinching field goal by Hajrullahu in the final minute.
Whyte’s punt 1:01 into the third quarter was blocked by Jones and recovered by Unamba in the end zone for the first touchdown of the contest. Marsh’s scoring run capped an impressive drive that included 88 yards from Sutton, giving the Alouettes a 13-8 lead with 1:32 remaining in the session.
