The New York Rangers look to continue their mastery of the Carolina Hurricanes and secure their sixth straight victory overall when the Metropolitan Division rivals complete their home-and-home set at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. Defenseman Kevin Klein scored the tying goal with 2:23 remaining in the third period before Mats Zuccarello netted the lone tally of the shootout in New York's 3-2 victory on Saturday. The Rangers have won 13 of their last 14 meetings with the sputtering Hurricanes.

Rick Nash saw his career-best 11-game point streak come to an end despite the return of linemate Derick Brassard, who won 11-of-19 faceoffs after missing two contests due to the mumps. Chris Terry scored for the second straight game overall as well as in both contests versus New York this season. Jeff Skinner also tallied for Carolina, which is 1-6-1 in its last eight contests.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, FSN Carolinas, MSG Plus (New York)

ABOUT THE HURRICANES (9-19-4): Coach Bill Peters didn't divulge his starter for Sunday's contest but told the Raleigh News & Observer that Cam Ward "might be a little fatigued" after his 32-save performance on Saturday. Should Ward be a spectator, Anton Khudobin will have a chance to secure his elusive first win of the season when he puts his 0-7-2 mark on the line on Sunday. The 28-year-old Russian yielded five goals on 23 shots in a setback to Philadelphia on Dec. 13 in his last outing but made 33 saves in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Rangers on Oct. 16.

ABOUT THE RANGERS (16-10-4): Two days after receiving a one-year, $1.45 million contract extension, Cam Talbot is expected to have his first chance to pay dividends for New York should he secure the start on Sunday. The 27-year-old shut out Philadelphia in back-to-back starts - albeit nine days apart - before stopping 31 shots in a 3-2 setback to Detroit on Dec. 6. Center J.T. Miller scored his fourth goal in eight games since being recalled from Hartford of the American Hockey League.

1. New York killed off all four short-handed situations and is 14-for-15 over the last six contests.

2. Carolina C Elias Lindholm has recorded a goal and two assists during his three-game point streak.

3. The Rangers have won seven straight meetings with the Hurricanes at Madison Square Garden, outscoring them by a 22-8 margin.

PREDICTION: Rangers 3, Hurricanes 0
