Guaranteed Rate Field, Chicago, Illinois
The Chicago White Sox and visiting Detroit Tigers are scheduled to play a doubleheader for the second straight day when they clash on Saturday. Friday's attempt didn't start well as the afternoon portion was rained out before Chicago rolled to an 8-2 victory in a night contest that started 85 minutes late due to more rain.
Jose Abreu registered three hits for Chicago on Friday and is a torrid 16-for-33 with three homers during his seven-game hitting streak. Melky Cabrera also excelled by going 3-for-5 with a blast and four RBIs, making him 6-for-13 with two homers and six RBIs over his last three contests. Detroit has dropped five of its last six games and has scored two runs or fewer in four of the setbacks. Miguel Cabrera and Ian Kinsler, who was utilized as a pinch-hitter, were out of Friday's starting lineup due to rest and are expected to play both games of the twinbill.
