Leafs have struggled to beat hot goalies this season and I expect tonight will be no different.
Leafs continue to search for an "identity" as they call it. Maybe they should try to find their balls first. But they are right they have no style and as a result often end up trying to beat their competition at their own style. When they play with toughness they go retard mode and spend half the game in the box. When they try to stay out of the box they look gutless.
The Devils on the other hand know their brand of hockey and play it well. Recently they look like they improve a little bit more every game. They have adapted to losing Kovalchuk and adding Jager.
I know it's tempting to think that the Leafs will exploit their speed against a tired NJ team but they haven't looked fast lately. Remember how the tired Rangers just beat up the rested Leafs recently.
Toronto is also a hard place to play hockey when you're losing and the leafs drama's continue. Trade talks, finger pointing, and calls for heads to roll dominate the press on this team. No team is looking forward to the Olympic break more than Toronto I'm sure.
I expect a Devils win and an Under on the Total.
I might parlay the NJ puckline with the NYI or Buf puck line instead of a NJ ML but it's still early and I want to see who the Leafs start in goal. BOLTA
