That the 3rd best team in the division, be it Boston, Tampa or Toronto could legitimately be better then any team in the entire national league. Now I wouldnt have said that if Philly had both Howard and Utley in the lineup but with them down I would take both Boston or Tampa over them right now.
Atlanta?
I think this is the strongest this division has maybe ever looked, especially if the Jays take the jump to around a 90 win team.

There will be no team in the AL East that wins more than 94 games.
Every team is so good that they will just beat up on eachother. Thats why I think it will be close to impossible to see the 2nd wild card come out of this division.

Good thread. Was talking yesterday to a friend on this exact subject. He doesn't wager and never looks at gambling lines (GA for 15+ yrs). When I told him what the Las Vegas season win totals were for the AL East, his chin was on the floor. He swears the Yankees are going to win 100 games easy and that both Toronto and Boston would be in the mid 90's. But you're exactly right, the competition is so damned tough, how is anybody supposed to break 93-94 wins?

It would be just about impossible to have the Yankees at 100 wins and the Sox/Jays in the mid 90s. And lets say the Rays are at 84 wins (I think they finish no worse than 3rd)
Over the past 3 years the intradivision records of those teams above are:
Unless you think every team is going to win 2 out of 3 games, outside of hte division, that is the only way for there to be 3 teams win 94+ games in the AL East.
It will not happen. As I said a few years ago 90 wins might be what wins the division in the AL East.

4 teams in the same division over 90 wins ?? Do you smoke crack??
They will beat up on each other and there are some good teams in the other divisions.. Angels, Rangers, Tigers will also do some damage vs these teams and the inter league play can cause some problems...

Where did I say 4 teams with over 90 wins?
I said the Jays could jump too "around" a 90 win team. That could mean 87, 88, 89 etc wins.
If the standings finish 1. Yankees 2. Tampa 3. Boston 4. Toronto I think you could easily make the argument that Boston is just as good as any team in the national league this season.

In a way I hope the betting world shares Delpo's view. That would give us 5 bettable teams. On the Orioles and fade the rest. Opportunity knocks if you know what you are looking for.
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn

Well if the Jays "could" jump up to 90 wins and you predict they finish 4th, wouldn't the 3 teams ahead of them have more than 90...
Not necessarily. I said around, meaning that could be anywhere from like 86-90. They could easily finish with 87 wins and say Boston with 89. I also never said it was a fact that Boston would finish ahead of them. I could see the Jays finish with more wins then Boston and finish in 3rd this season. If I had to rank teams today I would rank Yankees/TB/BOS/TOR but if the Jays get close to the 90 win mark they could overtake one of team teams in front.
I dont even understand why this is being debated tho. Nowhere in my original post did I say the Jays WOULD win 90 games or that 4 teams in the division would be in the 90+ win range. I said that you could make the argument that whoever places 3rd in the division could be a better team then anyone in the NL. Watching Philly today and this brutal offence, I dont understand how Vegas can by so high on them, regardless of there pitching staff or not.

I don't get the Yankee love either. The only place they're clearly the best in the division is the bullpen. Arod and Jeter are on big time decline. You could make a legitimate argument that the Jays have a better offense.
