Here we go with the LSU bullshit again, and this time its with a new unproven QB as a starter under Les Miles. I would not hang my hat on his next years projections right now.

I would think that Phil Steele would have realized that Rueben Randle will be playing in the NFL next year.
5 SEC teams in the Top 11?
Lucan - You may not like it but 'Bama is not going to win the National Championship every year and LSU will win another title at some point. The Tigers will be tough to beat next year,It's not bullshit.

I know Alabama can't win every year, i'm not on an Alabama band wagon. I have said in many post i don't think Alabama will repeat as National Champs next season. But LSU will not beat Alabama next season, i don't care if its in Baton Rouge, La unless Alabama has its best players on IR.
And people can't say that Tyrann Mathieu, will be a factor. Alabama went at him and exposed he was not that great. He was giving a title by his team mates only and he didn't live up to his expectations in the NCG...the most important game of his life.
Great players step up when needed...
He's just an over hype player that made two TD's while playing defense, that had no right being invited to the Heisman selection.
Now you and i know theres alot of defensive players across the country that done alot better the that. Mathieu was a media driven player. It's laughable thinking he so good.
I also don't care what players will be leaving Alabama on defense or offense.
The Alabama players stepping up/in have plenty of playing time and talent as they played most 3rd qts and all 4th qts last season, and A.J. McCarron will be better next season and as we know he took Alabama to the NCG his 1st year as a starter and won, now we can say it was because of the Alabama defense, or Trent Richardson that won the NCG.
In the NCG Trent Richardson watched his backup Lacy play as much as him if not more from the sidelines and as far as the defense they were good but Saban and Smart thats their memo every year with a defense.
I don't think LSU will be that hard to beat next year, now thats just my opinion, so lets not take this and blow it out of the water after all i'm no Lee Corso but then again he picked LSU to beat Alabama in the NCG.
I'm not always right, and i will eat crow when due. I'm not getting into the hype of LSU next season and you should not either.
Maybe USC yes.
As far as Steele putting Michigan in the top 10 is stupid Alabama plays them the 1st game of the year, he should put Clemson there instead.
The media is going to try and put Michigan back into the spot light, and they are desevering of it sooner or later. But so is ND, Texas, and some other teams. Hell i miss the days Michigan was a top contender, but i also miss Nebraska there two.
I think Steele has this pecking order wrong!!!

Arkansas continues to struggle to recruit blue-chip talent for their offensive and defensive lines. Their inability to match up with Alabama and LSU in the trenches is the biggest impediment to them taking the next step. In my honest opinion, I still don't think they are strong enough at the point of attack. The big thing they have working in their favor this season, however, is that they catch both Alabama and LSU at home, so the schedule lines up favorably for them to make a run if they can win one of those games.

I tend to agree, but who in that conference do you see knocking them off?
I think Florida State will prove to be slightly under-rated. I think they are a top 5 caliber team.

FSU will underperform again, it doesn't matter how many blue chips they get. They will get their butt whooped by at least 2 teams in the ACC that they should be able to whallop.

Tough games for Florida State are Clemson and Florida at home, and Miami and Virginia Tech on the road. They should be able to win 3 of those. They'll probably go on to face Virginia Tech or Georgia Tech in the SEC Championship Game, and should win that game as well. That should make them a top 5 team heading into their BCS bowl game.

I understand your point, and it is very well taken.
Wake Forest has given Florida State fits the last few years. I remember the last game between these two teams very well because I had Wake +10. There is no question that Wake played a very good game and deserved to win. They were able to consistently run the ball, and cashed in points when the opportunity arose. But the #1 factor that swayed this game in favor of Wake was their 5-0 turnover advantage.
3 of 4 of Florida State's losses came during the period EJ Manuel was injured, and the 4th was a game they should have easily won over Virginia but repeatedly shot themselves in the foot.
I realize the point you are making is that elite teams should not blow games against teams like Virginia and Wake Forest, and I agree. Where we differ is that I don't think they will lose to the lesser teams next season. I believe that is so because FSU will field a very talented and experienced team, so I don't think we'll see the breakdowns we saw last season.
With CB Greg Reid and DE Brandon Jenkins returning for their senior seasons (HUGE), Florida State will be returning 9 of their 11 starters from their very stout 2011 defensive unit. The Seminoles also added the top two defensive tackle prospects in the nation in Mario Edwards and Eddie Goldman.
Offensively they'll be lead by 5th year senior EJ Manuel under center and James Wilder should be much improved in his second season.
Lastly, all of the red shirts will come off Florida State's sick #2 overall 2011 recruiting class, so they'll have a teriffic blend of veterans and young blue-chip talent next season.
Right now the talent gap between Florida State and the rest of the ACC is fairly substantial, with Clemson really being the only other team in the conversation.
I don't think Florida State is quite good enough to win the national championship, but they are definitely poised for an outstanding season and an ACC championship. I think they'll be a top 5 team heading into their bowl game.
