Anyone remember the Georgia game in 2003? It was the same exact game as the Alabama game this year, Same Exact Game. Georgia came into Death Valley as a highly ranked team with national title aspirations. Final score was LSU 17, Georgia 10. You remember that game, right? Come on, Matt Mauck rolling to his left finds a streaking Skyler Green, who broke his route and went deep when the pocket failed, touchdown LSU with less than a minute to play. Then, David Green made the mistake of throwing at Corey Webster and the game was over. (I met my wife that day in Tiger Stadium and my first born child’s name is Skylar. Coincidence, I think not although my wife claims she is named after Minnie Driver’s character in Good Will Hunting. Little does she know…)
The game, you see, was a mistake according to the experts. Georgia rolled up 411 yards of offense against LSU’s 285. Georgia kicker, Billy Bennet, had an awful day and missed three field goals. The LSU offense simply could not move the ball and barely had 100 yards on the ground. Georgia outplayed LSU and was the better team. LSU didn’t win. Georgia beat them self and they would absolutely rectify this in the SEC Title game in December. This time, Georgia would not miss their field goals. This time the officiating would fall their way and they had the better players and coach. LSU would still not be able to run the ball and the better team, Georgia, would emerge. So poor old LSU rolled into Atlanta and all the experts predicted an Alabama, err I mean a Georgia revenge victory. This is what happens when two equal teams play twice. It’s the law of averages. Then the game started and LSU put a burlap sack over Georgia’s head and beat them senseless with Andy Dufrane’s rock hammer until they were bloody and immobile. It was total destruction. The parallels between that Georgia game and the Nov 5th Alabama game are uncanny.
Now, the BSR is not predicting a blow out in this game. We are however predicting a ten point LSU victory with a blow out possible if a few things fall our way and here is how it will play out:
Anyone with half a brain will say that LSU needs to attack the edges against Bama. Georgia Southern ran up over three hundred yards with the triple option and LSU should do the same. Nick Saban builds his defense to have large linebackers that shoot gaps. They are not designed to be fast and have lateral speed. This is why teams are successful if they can get to the edge and run away from the side Nick is bringing pressure from. While we agree with this assessment, we also know that Nick Saban will expect LSU to attack the edges and be prepared. Ha-ha though, Les Miles knows that Nick will be prepared and will also be prepared to adjust to his adjustment. Got that? In other words, Jefferson will throw the football. We are expecting that LSU will throw on first down most of the game. Multiple second and longs are why we struggled to sustain drives last time. Nick Saban is the best in the business at taking away your top threat so you can forget about Randle having a huge night. If he does, then it’s a blow out.More likely it will be underneath and drag routes that get them with Odell, Shep and a tight end having big games. We will roll Jefferson basically gambling as to what side Nick will bring pressure. If we guess right and roll away it will be fun because JJ can run if no one is open. If we guess incorrect JJ will have to be smart with the football and throw it away. We will see some Ford and Blue on the option and a little Spencer off tackle.

expect a tight game again until at some point Kenny Hillard will catch them anticipating an edge attack and be a little too spread out. He will then bust one off tackle and that’s when the fun will begin.
The thing that is a little concerning is that Bama is due against LSU. No one, and I mean no one, owns Nick Saban the way LSU and Les have owned them lately. Common football sense tells us that Bama sneaks one out here, unless. Unless LSU is a special team this year as only a special team could run the table with what was in front of us this year. We destroyed the Orange Bowl winner and the Rose Bowl winner away from Tiger Stadium. We also beat the team that is playing for the national title in their own house, that’s crazy. When it is over LSU will have beaten the #3, #2, #3 and #2 teams in America. Also beating another 7 or so ranked teams. Only a special team can do that. This is why I think LSU finds a way to beat the conventional rematch wisdom and pulls it out. Let’s look at a few other reasons.
We are a better all around team. Alabama has an obvious weakness in their kicking game. We have none in that area. Brad Wing is a weapon and will take away any hope of a return game. Opponents have 7 yards of return yardage against our punt team this year. That is a record that will never be broken. Ever.
Alabama arrogance. Barrett Jones is quoted as saying “This is not a revenge game, it’s about restoring order.” Hey Barrett, you are 1-2 against LSU in your career and you were abused to the point you could not finish the last game when intergalactic overlord Barkevious Mingo claw-hammered you so what exactly is out of order when LSU beats you? Multiple Alabama players offered no credit to LSU after the last games. I have a friend that said the wind was wicked swirling and that’s why Bama missed the kicks they did. I guess Overlord Mingo waved his arm and made the wind stop swirling when we kicked our field goals. They can say all these things to reporters, but inside they know what happened. They know we shut their biggest weapon down. They know our depth began to take over late in the game. When it happens again they will fall silent with their own thoughts and realize they may have been full of crap and LSU is in fact a better team this year. Arrogance has a way of blowing up when the truth is evident.
Uh, Honey Badger. Arguably the biggest “Play Maker” in the history of LSU football.
LSU just has too many weapons. We can hurt you in every aspect of the game and we do. Alabama can hurt you with Trent Richardson and Marquise Maize. That’s it.
The million dollar question is will Nick Saban punt the ball down the middle of the field to Honey Badger. It is not wise to do this as he is a complete threat to change the outcome of the game. Ask Bobby Petrino and Mark Richt. The problem is Saban would see it as an admission of weakness to directional kick away from Honey Badger. He believes if you follow proper technique and stay disciplined, remain in your lanes, there is zero reason to have a punt returned for a touchdown so here is what he will do. He will kick to him early. Honey Badger will have a good return and flip the field. Nick’s face will contort and he will spit while having a convulsion on national tv. (I love that part) He will then decide to directional kick and his punter will shank one off the side of his foot which will bring on another convulsion. And the crowd goes wild…..
LSU in Domes in the BCS era. Overall record 15-1. Record against ranked teams 14-1. Record against top 15 teams 12-1. Record against top 10 teams 7-0. Record against top 5 teams 5-0. Average margin of victory 17 points.
LSU in bowl games under Les Miles. Les Miles simply kicks your ass in bowl games. He beat Miami 40-3, Notre Dame 41-14, Ohio State 38-24, Ga. Tech 38-3, Texas A&M 41-24. He is the best coach I have ever seen in preparing a team to play when he has multiple weeks to do it. I expect the same as we like to follow the trends here at the BSR.
Experience. LSU has had huge games this year. It started against Oregon then continued at Alabama and again with Arkansas. LSU answered the bell every time in huge fashion. Alabama has had one game like this, LSU at home and they soiled themselves.
We here at the BSR said at the beginning of the year that the biggest threat to LSU winning the national title this year was Jordan Jefferson. He was the weakest link on the team. Then, after the Mississippi State game we said the only team that beats LSU this year is LSU. This still hold true. If we play our game, as we have done all year, and keep penalties and turnovers to a minimum then Alabama cannot beat LSU. If we have mistakes and penalties then they could pull this out, but we don’t see it.
This was written by a friend of mine who used to do write ups for every LSU game. This is not from a tout service or anything like that. The BSR and "we" hes refering to is simply a tailgate group I believe. No need to call me a homer or biased, because everybody here knows thats the case, just thought these words had some truth to them. Enjoy either way.

RTR and go to hell LSU. Honey Badger has it coming to him in this one. Somebody is going to lay him out. Jordan Jefferson can't win a title. Hope Jarett Lee gets in the game.

Thanks for adding your .02 gump. At least "try" to be productive.

Nice post bubba! Shows your football intelligence. That's several different posts by you saying go to hell LSU or other nonsense. You sound like a jealous, classless loser to me.

First of all, please don't compare Alabama to Georgia...
This was a great write up, and I can certainly see this game going this way, if you are right about out LB's on the edges.
One person could say that we weren't prepared for that attack, and that we also weren't prepared for the Ga southern attack. If you really think about it, you can't really say that we had the time then to prepare for JJ, and we only had a week to prepare for Ga southern.
You have to admit, that Nick Saban sees this weakness in our defense, and is spending every second trying to fix this. So let me ask you this... IF I am right, and we have an answer for the edges, and LSU doesn't have the success running the ball, what then?

I hope you are wrong... And if LSU wins this game, they are truly a great team. They have shown it week in, and week out this season. I want Bama to win of course, but this could truly be a great LSU team, for the history books.

Bama is being compared to georgia 2003, that team was a lot like bama this year. But with a better qb. The fact that you made and excuse for why Georgia southern scored on y'all is hilarious. You only had one week to prepared For them lol?

Exactly... We had one week to prepare for a team that runs the option unlike any other team we have played all season. Anyone who knows anything about football knows that if you don't properly prepare for that kind of attack, your team will be exposed.

And to compare that Ga team to an Alabama team that has one of the best defenses in Alabama HISTORY, is laughable. That Ga team almost lost to UAB, lost to Florida, and almost lost to Purdue.
We have DESTROYED every single other team we have played, and no offense has scored more than 14 points on our defense.
