Washington Redskins +3.5 -110
I underestimated the Skins last week while overlooking the spot for the Rams. The Skins have one great advantage on a short week: they have faced the two best defensive lines in the league, so playing against the Giants should feel like flicking some cardboard cut-outs. I have a lot of respect for Bill Callahan. This offensive line looked garbage in the pre-season but he did a great job in adjusting his line. He had great success with the Jets, established the best offensive line of the league in Dallas and now you have seen some decent approaches with the Skins against the best defensive lines. Brandon Scherff looks like he is going to be the next Zack Martin with more weight. He allowed just one hurry in two games against the likes of Suh and Donald – that’s CRAZY. Trent Williams is a beast, he didn’t allow a single pressure thus far. Lichtensteiger, Moses and Lauvao looked like the weaker spots on this line but then again it was Rams and Dolphins. I expect them to work nicely together as a whole tonight. The pass rush of NYG is nothing to be afraid of. I can go on and name some players, but it’s just plain and simple: without JPP there isn’t enough quality on their front seven to put any QB under real pressure. The Giants also struggled mightily against the pass. They are super thin on their secondary, DRC is out and Landon Collins looks like he will need atleast a year to be ready for the NFL and he doesn’t have a strong support. I don’t know whether there was a pass thrown on him that was not complete. Neither their safeties nor their LBs can cover tight ends. Jordan Reed will have a field day. The Redskins run to pass to get pressure off Cousins. They will try to run wild on the Giants to set up good passing situations for Kirk Cousins and that’s where I believe they will have success tonight. People are still high on the Giants offense because there is one name: Odell Beckham Jr. But take away the Fantasy-mind and they have real issues because of their offensive line, which is overlooked by many. The Giants got lucky that Randy Gregory left the game early as he was steadily beating Ereck Flowers who looks like the expected bust on LT with the age of 21. Flowers is listed as doubtful. If he isn’t ready to go, Justin Pugh is going to play LT and John Jerry plugs in at LG. Pugh is a natural RT, John Jerry a natural RG. To sum it up, the Giants go with the third option on the left side of their OL. So either a banged up Flowers or players on the “wrong” position line up against Ryan Kerrigan and Jason Hatcher. Your choice, but I would side with Hatcher and Kerrigan. On the other side it’s Stephen Paea working on the Giants’ offensive line. Tannehill was pressured a lot and Nick Foles was scrambling for his life. The Redskins have occured 33 total pressures on 75 passing downs, that's pressure on 44% of the opponents' snaps. Dan Quinn likes to only send his front four which doesn’t have good quality so the real test for the Giants’ offensive line comes tonight against the Redskins. The addition of Terrence Knighton was a huge boost for the run defense, neither Dolphins nor Rams were able to run effectively. Behind this OL, I can’t see the Giants getting their run game going against this stout front seven from the Skins. That puts Eli Manning in a bad situation all game long as he only has one reliabe target in Odell while getting pressured and throwing into the secondary led by Chris Culliver, Deshan Goldson and DeAngelo Hall who looks good so far coming back from his injury.
Redskins are going to win this game but I will gladly take the spread of more than a field goal.Good luck everybody
