"Rice has legitimate bowl credentials and figures to be able to exploit the weakest platoon on the field, the Fresno defense, which ranked a
poor 108th overall this season. The Owls balanced their offense better than
LY’s bowl edition, thanks to electric jr. QB Driphus Jackson (2524 YP &
21 TDP, very high by recent Rice standards), who in relief also led Rice to a
bowl win over Air Force two years ago. The Owls’ defensive stats appear worse
than they really were, partly because revenge-minded La Tech dropped a 76-point bomb on Rice Nov. 29. But Fresno and mistake-prone QB Brian Burrell
(16 picks) do not figure to overrun the Owls in a similar manner. There are
other edges to this C-USA rep (such as a superior TO ratio and efficiency in
the red zone), which, coupled with HC David Bailiff’s shiny 22-11 spread mark
since mid 2012, suggest a better case for the Owls!"

Fresno started out the season poorly but rebounded to make it to a bowl game. Except for last game they have been playing much better football and I look for them to win this game outright by at least a touchdown.

If it were possible that both teams could lose I would bet that way. They both suck. LAtech dropping 76 on the Owls only means 76 can be dropped on them...I am sure 76 could easily be dropped on Fresno. I like Fresno here for a couple reasons. History for one, Rice is 0-5 or 0-6 against Fresno, next Fresno has a traditional drop back QB, he may not be great but I think he will look great against Rice D. The Rice athletic Qb is typical. Good athlete, can't read a defense and will depend on athletic ability plus inaccurate passer. Or let me be less politically correct a decent no athletic ability white QB will beat a very athletic gifted black QB 80 pct of the time. That being said I mean if the rest of the team O and D for both teams are evenly matched. If Rice is far better running the ball this gives the athletic QB a huge advantage and could change the game. If both teams can run or neither team can run I would take Fresno large.
