How can anyone in their right mind justify a play on Silva at -180? Is there more of a fight that can be made in the UFC that is a coinflip?
These two are going to stand and trade until someone falls. Technique will be thrown out the window (not that either of them have technical striking). Gameplans will be to stand and trade, hope to land first.
How can someone seriously justify a legitimate play on Silva in this fight?
This fight has Leben +150 or no play at all written all over it. Nothing else makes sense.
With that being said, a coin flip is a coin flip. Silva could easily win this fight.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw this line. But is it a case of the oddsmakers knowing something we don't? Or are they giving Wand too much credit here? Leben def seems like the value play here but I would be pretty skeptical after seeing these odds.

To me it is an issue of Wand being a fan favorite. He's going to take action no matter who he is against, no matter what the price.

I don't understand how Leban got so good? I like Leban, and he is a solid fighter. But to say technique goes out the window is wrong. Yea, they will slug it out. But Wandy in his last fight showed more patience, and more technique. Does he still "go for it"...yea. But it is more controlled than in the past.
Leban beats the likes of Jay Silva, Aaron Simpson, and Sexyama (a fight he was losing, until he pulled off a miracle) and he is real good?
Not many guys have beat Bisping...and Wandy did in his 185 debut.
I agree, that there is little value anywhere on this fight. But Silva is the favorite for a reason. Because he is the better striker and it will be a striking match...makes sense to me. Plus I am seeing Silva at -165 or -170 on most all books.

You guys are nuts, this one has grappling match written all over it! I am thinking this one easily goes the distance so perhaps a prop bet for this fight to complete 3 rounds in order. Book it!

I have no idea what the stats are but i would assume that fighters who have not fought for over a year after coming off knee surgery tend to lose their first fight back the vast majority of the time, however im still not betting on this fight!

Honestly I think Wanderlei will try to fight from range largely like he did against Bisping (his last fight). It seems everyone assumes this will be rock-em sock-em, and -- hindsight bias aside -- usually when the whole public believes something unthinkingly the opposite tends to happen.
Having said that, still no idea who to pick here. Silva is too old to be reliable particularly after the surgery and Leben is too unstable to bet on. Far better to wager money mentally healthy fighters who you know what you're going to get (Edgar, Condit, etc)
